SHAH ALAM – Selangor created a record when it successfully recorded a total investment of RM14 billion, last year.
Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari, said that the sum had exceeded the RM7 billion target set by the State Government before.
“As of September last year, investment in Selangor amounted to RM8 billion and recently, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) orally mentioned the likelihood of the overall figure last year amounting to RM14 billion.
“However, we have to wait for the official announcement from MIDA,” he said after attending the Friendly Friendly Assembly in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Celebration 2019 organized by the Malaysian Hokkien Association at Hotel Concorde, on Feb 18.
He said the numbers showed good performance over the next 10 years, the second highest after the most recently acquired investment amount of nearly RM15 billion, in 2014.
He said the results of the implementation of the stable program and integrity implemented by the State Government pushed more investments into Selangor.
“However, the State Government can not be satisfied with the existing achievement and must upgrade it to ensure Selangor continues to be an advanced state in Malaysia.
“Hence, this year we will focus on group development in certain industries to attract more inward investments,” he said.
