Selangor’s investment value rose to 238 per cent in 2018

SHAH ALAM – The value of investments in Selangor recorded a new history when it reached the highest achievement in history with a 238 per cent increase over the previous year.

Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, said the extraordinary value of investments recorded in 2018 amounted to RM18.947 billion compared to 2017 which had amounted to RM5.592 billion.

“With its strategic location and good infrastructure, Selangor has always been the choice of domestic and foreign investors who would come to conduct businesses in Selangor, even though the global economic situation in 2019 was predicted to be gloomy and the world economic growth rate was expected to decline from 3.5 percent to 3.7 per cent in 2018.”

“We are pleased to announce that 241 manufacturing projects have been approved in Selangor for the year 2018, which is the highest in the country, compared to 202 approved manufacturing projects in 2017,” he said.

His Majesty said this when conveying his speech  at the Opening Ceremony of the Second Division of the 14th Selangor State Assembly of 2019 here today.

He said the approved manufacturing project had created 9,196 job opportunities for the people of Selangor.

He said this achievement clearly reflects the State of Selangor as the main heart of the country’s economic development.
