PETALING JAYA – Selangor is expected to lead the Southeast Asian region in the study and exploration of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) through Malaysia Smart Factory (MSF) that was launched last September.
Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari, said the move to develop the MSF will be refined by the State Secretary of Education and Human Resource Management.
He said SSF, which opened in 2017, is the first institute in the world to conduct research and provide an important foundation for the challenges of IR 4.0.
“I’m thinking of expanding because this is the gateway to Southeast Asia that we dream not only in terms of economics or investment but in the services sector such as education and preparation for IR 4.0 preparations,” he said.
He was speaking to the media after attending the Excellent Service Award 2018 and Celebrating Retirement at 2019 Petaling Jaya City Council, at the MBPJ Civic Hall here last night.
At the same time, Amirudin said his visit to the Swiss Smart Factory (SSF), in Switzerland, recently provided an opportunity for him to explore the methods developed at the lab.
“We already have MSF cooperation with SSF launched last September, which is also the first IR 4.0 lab in Southeast Asia.
“Only this year will SSF be opened in Korea, Japan and Indonesia, so I visit SSF in the hope that we can expand the lab so that Selangor will remain as the leader of the IR 4.0 assessment in the future,” he said.
