Ampang Hospital Builds First KRT Apartment in Selangor

AMPANG – The Ampang Hospital emerged as the first medical center in Selangor to establish a Rukun Tetangga Area (KRT) in its apartment as an effort to empower local communities.

Housing and Local Government Minister, Zuraida Kamaruddin said the establishment of the KRT is expected to be an example to the community as the residents of the apartment comprises of hospital staff with health-related knowledge.

“This effort (the establishment of KRT) is welcomed as it is an effort to unify the community to make our homes more harmonious and the spirit of mutual cooperation is maintained as outlined in the National Community Policy,” said Zuraida.

“The establishment of KRT is also expected to empower communities to know how to care for their hygiene, safety, property and harmony,” she said at the Ampang Hospital Apartments KRT Launching Ceremony and the Jom Sihat programme at the main lobby of Ampang Hospital here.

Zuraida, who is also the MO for Ampang, is hoping that residents in the area will be responsible towards the best housing area and maintain the image as government employees.

At the same event, KRT Apartments Ampang received RM17,000 contribution from the Housing and Local Government Ministry which was handed over by Zuraida and Teratai State Assemblyman, Bryan Lai Wai Chong.

KRT Ampang Hospital Apartment was established on  10 August 2018 and comprises of three blocks of buildings that has 427 units of houses.

To date, nearly 393 units of hospital staff are housed with a total population of 2,400 people.
