MB – Fallen Trees are the Cause of Damaged Houses

GOMBAK – Dozens of trees as big as a full grown adult has fallen due to the recent storm that had hit Kampung Batu 11, on 29 March and had caused severe damages to several houses there.

Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari said there were many trees there that were decades old, including forest trees and durian trees that were likely to have fallen during the storm.

“We find that the houses are badly damaged by the hit taken from the fallen trees, compared to the storm in Tanjong Karang which had affected the paddy fields,” he said after visiting the storm victims at the JAKOA Multipurpose Hall in Batu 12 on 29 March.

Also present were Health, Welfare, Women and Family Empowerment EXCO, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud and Gombak Setia State Assemblyman, Muhammad Hilman Idham.

At the same time, Amirudin said the first storm in the area had occurred due to the extremely hot weather lately.

“The pressure may be a factor that had resulted in a tornado occurrence. The state government never expected a disaster event to happen, as it is beyond our expectations.”

“However, my guarantee to the people of Selangor is that the State Government always ready and that the disaster committee is moving fast,” he said.

The storm had hit several areas in North Gombak which had damaged five houses in Pondok Penyayang Raudhah.
