‘Sarang Ekonomi Desa’ Programme Will Be Launched Mid-year

SHAH ALAM – The state government is launching its ‘Sarang Ekonomi Desa’ programme in the middle of this year, as an approach to revitalize and promote potentially developed economic activities in rural areas.

The EXCO of Entrepreneur Development And Rural Development, Rodziah Ismail said the programme was a brainstorm of her own ideas that were planned to be implemented, particularly in Selangor.

According to Rodziah, the programme is also an initiative to improve the standard of living of the people, including improving the income level of families by utilizing all the advantages available in their respective villages.

“Residents in the village area will be directly involved in this programme which focuses on several aspects besides having the opportunity to increase income through economic activities carried out through it,” she said.

“At the same time, the income gap in the rural and urban areas will be reduced.”

In line with the programme, Rodziah, who is also the Batu Tiga State Assemblyman, said the state government targets the average household income in Selangor to reach RM 6,000 per month by 2025.

Rodziah stated that she is committed to helping low-income households (B40) either in urban or rural areas.

“There will not be any ‘Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat’  (IPR) programme that will be abolished or canceled, instead, they will only be restructuring or re-alignment to ensure the programme reaches its aim and target groups,” she said.
