KUALA LUMPUR – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) provides 10 static tanks and 74 lorries for water supply to consumers affected by three major pipeline breaks at the construction site of the West Coast Highway (WCE) Banting-Taiping in Klang, last Saturday.

The National Water Services Commission (SPAN) chairman Charles Santiago in a statement on 8 May said two Local Service Centers in Sultan Suleiman and Bandar Parkland and five public squares at the Rahimah Mosque, Section 16 and Bandar Bukit Raja were opened to the public to get the water supply .

In the meantime, he said SPAN would conduct a detailed investigation of the incident under Section 122 of the Water Services Industry Act 2006 (Act 655).

He said the thorough monitoring of the repair works on the pipes was done to ensure that the water supply could be restored immediately.

“Following the incident, Air Selangor implemented the shutdown valve to the pipe and carried out repair work immediately. Repair work has been difficult due to the condition of the site that is still undergoing land movement, and Water Selangor is implementing it as soon as possible with SPAN monitoring it,” he said.

Since last week, the incident has affected consumers in 65 areas around Klang, especially those receiving water from the Bukit Lipat Kajang Pool.
