KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is holding a national pavilion with the involvement of 13 Malaysian exhibitors at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2019 in the United States.

The four-day event ending May 9 held at NRG Centre, Houston, Texas.

Petronas, MISC Bhd and TM One, as well as a number of innovative Small and Medium Enterprises from the oil and gas sector, will also be joining in the event.

In a statement Monday, MATRADE’s director of oil and gas, chemical and energy, S. Jai Shankar said the gradual but steady turnaround in the global oil and gas prices has re-activated global investment in exploration and production activities.

MATRADE, with the support from the Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council (MOGSC), will be arranging business meetings and technical presentations for Malaysian exhibitors with pre-identified potential buyers, including that from North America, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.

“Malaysia has a traditional footprint in the oil & gas industry in Latin America.

“These markets are poised for strong growth in the coming years and will see an expansion in exploration and production activities in the oil and gas fields,” Shankar said.

In 2018, Malaysian companies recorded business leads valued at RM379.5 million at OTC Houston 2018.

In the same year, Malaysia’s total trade with the United States for oil and gas products grew 26 per cent to RM2.31 billion as compared to 2017 with RM1.83 billion.
