Over 60,000 Attended the Selangor Aidilfitri Open House

SHAH ALAM – Over 60,000 attendees flooded the Bulatan Bazarena in Section 13 to celebrate the Selangor state level Hari Raya open house event yesterday evening.

His Royal Highness (DYMM) Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and DYMM Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin also graced the event with the aim to be closer to the people of the state.

In his speech, Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari said Selangor recorded a revenue of RM 1.21 bil as of 7 June this year, which is a 13.7 per cent increase from the same period last year.

”Selangor also recorded local and foreign investment value of RM 18.94 bil last year compared to RM 5.59 bil in 2017,” said Amirudin.

“The amount is the highest in the state’s history – a jump of 238 per cent,” he said.

Amirudin added that the presence of the public from various races reflected the strong unity and solidarity among the people in Selangor.

He said he appreciated the presence of a multi-racial society and an age group that enlivened the open house festivity organized by the state government.

“I also extend my gratitude to the presence of DYMM Sultan Selangor and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor as well as guests who are invited from various levels of society,” said Amirudin.

“It is hoped that this matter will be maintained and continues on in the future,” he added.

Meanwhile, the number of visitors that were unexpected clearly demonstrates how the people in the state expressed their devotion to the Sultan of Selangor.

A visitor, Muhammad Ali Rahim, 45, said the open house was an opportunity for the people to meet the sultan and the state leaders up closer.

“This shows that the Sultan of Selangor is willing to spend time with the people to celebrate Syawal which is merrier than the previous year’s open house and needs to be continued in the future,” said Muhammad Ali.

Also ipresent were Economic Affairs minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari, state secretary Datuk Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya, state excos and assemblymen.

Traditional dishes such as ketupat, lemang, serunding, kebun nasi, roasted chicken, chickens,  and sweet black meat are served to guests who were present at around 7 pm.

Famous artists including Jamal Abdillah, Jay Jay, Hael Husaini and Wany Hasrita were invited to entertain visitors.

The occasion was celebrated with cultural and art performances from the Malay Customs as well as the Selangor Heritage.
