Sungai Klang To Have Water Taxi Services

SHAH ALAM – The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) via Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd (LLSB) plans to develop the latest water transportation service on Sungai Klang known as ‘water taxi’.

His Excellency, Dato’ Mohamad Yasid Bidin said that the matter had been tabled in the State Executive Council (MMKN) and maintenance work would commence this year.

He said LLSB, Selangor Menteri Besar Incorproated (MBI) subsidiary, also intends to make the surrounding area of the Klang River more attractive.

“LLSB will take over caring for the area around the Pengkalan Batu recreation area to make it more attractive than ever,” he said.

“While in the Klang River estuary, the Sultan Sulaiman border area also has a forest reserve of over 50 acres (20.23 hectares) which also has the potential to be developed as an ecotourism area,” he added.

“The area will also be built by the jetty and to create water taxi services at Sungai Klang.”

He said this when met by reporters at the Mesra Aidilfitri celebrations with MPKlang 2019 council at Taman Pengkalan Batu, Area 1 on 20 June.

Earlier, nearly 5,000 residents around Klang attended the Mesra Aidilfitri celebrations with MPKlang 2019 council here.

Commenting on the event being held near Sungai Klang, Mohamad Yasid said it was aimed at promoting the area as ecotourism as well as attracting more people to the area.
