Syabas Addresses Sungai Langat’s Water Treatment Plant Incident

SHAH ALAM – The incident of the clogged bandscreen and trips due to garbage accumulated that caused shrinkage of raw water and treated water production can be overcome.

Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas), a member of the Air Selangor Water Management Sdn Bhd (Water Selangor), informed that it is in the process of increasing production and pool levels as well as stabilizing pressure on the distribution systems.

It also stated that the aid of the water tankers will be mobilized and all efforts are being taken to minimize the impact of disruption and restore water supply in the affected areas.

“We ask users to refer to the list of areas that are expected to be affected by this unscheduled water supply disruption,” the company stated.

“We also apologize for the inconvenience and please refer to the Air Selangor mobile app and www.syabas.com.my website for latest information and status which will be updated from time to time.”

Earlier, the production of treated water at Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant was affected by heavy rains upstream and large quantities of rubbish accumulated on the face of the sack, which had caused the clogging  of the bandscreen and the trips.

The incident had affected water supply in several areas in Hulu Langat, Kuala Lumpur and Petaling in stages.
