MB Finding the Best Solution for Aerospace Industry in Selangor

SHAH ALAM – The state government is still discussing with related parties, including Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), to find the best solution to provide space and to create the need for the aerospace industry.

Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari, said  the amount of land in Selangor is very limited and the need for investors are quite high.

“It is apparent that this need is very much present in the industry, so some of their proposals are still being discussed and we will submit a new proposal if they agree,” said Amirudin.

“If it is achieved, then Malaysia will be the first country in Southeast Asia to offer the services if it becomes a reality,” he added.

“This involves a lot of investment, so we want to ensure the situation is win-win and able to carry out good operations as well as create high investment and job opportunities for the people.”

Amirudin said this at the Invest Selangor Berhad Open House at the Shah Alam Convention Center (SACC), here.

Previously, the state government is in talks with Europe’s leading aircraft carrier Airbus to explore the opportunities of expanding the aerospace industry in the service sector and to break its aircraft and its components in the state.

Amirudin said discussions were expected to last for at least eight months or more before any matter was decided.

“At the moment, we are still in the process of identifying suitable locations near the airports especially in Sepang and Subang,” said Amirudin.

“What I can say is that in Selangor we are almost complete with the ecosystem to go on with this exploration,” he said.
