Selangor Gov Identifying Individuals Responsible for Klang Forest Fire

KLANG PORT – The Selangor government is detecting individuals responsible for causing fires at illegal landfills at Jalan Sungai Saim, Kampung Rantau Panjang, here on 27 June.

Selangor Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari said the party believed that a fire that destroyed an area of ​​1.2 hectares were done by forest invaders.

“For now, the firefighters are still there to keep the fire completely extinguished. We are in the process of identifying the parties involved, as well as to see if there are foreigners involved in exploring the peat soil,” said Amirudin.

“The fire is difficult to erase because the peat soils causes it to spread quickly, the hot weather is also making it difficult to completely extinguish the process,” he told reporters after attending the Klang Parliamentary Councils and Port Klang State Legislative Assembly here on 30 June.

Also present were Port Klang State Assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri and Klang Member of Parliament Charles Santiago.

Amirudin said he is now awaiting full report on the fire from the State Disaster Committee.

“Reports on the fire will be obtained in the near future, together with the landowner’s information, but through the initial information there are many owners, but we will investigate them,” he said.

A fire at a landfill in Jalan Sungai Saim, Kampung Rantau Panjang, which hits the fourth day today, has destroyed about 1.2 hectares of the forest.

To date, only more than 40 percent of the fire area at the landfill site has been erased, following a very deep waste of about 2.4 meters and in the mangrove swamp area.
