Security Issues Raised as part of New Initiatives in Selangor Budget 2020

SHAH ALAM – Security issues will be raised as part of the state government’s latest initiative in the Selangor Budget 2020 this November.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the initiative would be implemented within the Smart Selangor 2025 framework idea.

“The concept of this smart state is the latest and it is used in many places around the world, this will be used as the backdrop for the implementation of Selangor’s new programme which is ‘Safe City, Developing State, Peaceful Community,” said Amirudin.

He said this during the Budget Dialogue 2020 programme at the Shah Alam Convention Center on 27 August.

Amirudin said among those who received his attention in the dialogue included the suggestion made to the Home Ministry to increase the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) membership.

He added that in addition to the proposal to increase PDRM members, the state government is also looking into extending the scope of the Local Authorities (PBT) to the position of police assistants.

He also welcomed the proposal of adding a high-end closed-circuit camera along with working networks with law enforcement agencies including the PDRM.

Prior to this, exco of Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development, Ng Sze Han said safe city planning and management was an act of comprehensive development that is not meant to be the sole responsibility of the government.

“All parties including the Federal Government, State Government, Local Authorities, enforcement agencies, corporate bodies and the resident community are important players in establishing a safe city,” said Ng .
