SISS 2019 to Boost Selangor Internationally

SHAH ALAM – The involvement of big names in the Selangor International Sports Summit (SISS) 2019 is expected to boost the state’s name internationally.

Exco of Younger Development, Sports and Human Capital Development, Mohd Khairudddin Othman said among the notable names to be involved in the summit are the International Committee of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Khalid Al-Naama and the President of Korea International Sports Diplomacy, Prof. Rocky Kang Ro Yoon.

“Interestingly, SISS 2019 will also include 30 delegates from the World Sports Press Union (AIPS Asia) as well as 300 domestic and international participants,” he said at the Selangor International Sports Summit at the Sunway Resort Hotel on 20 August.

Also present were AIPS Asia Vice President Khawari Isa, Executive Director of the State Sports Council, Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi and SISS 2019 Organizing Committee Secretary Venu Ramadass.

Mohd Khairudddin said the event would focus on discussions of recent sports related issues including experience sharing sessions on organizing major world championships such as the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“SISS not only promotes the name of Selangor as the organizer of international sports events, but also has a positive impact on the sports, economic and tourism development sectors. The close cooperation of the Asian sports journalists will also help the country to host a number of international sporting events,” he said.

“I believe that sharing ideas and discussions that delve deeper into the current approaches, trends and future of the sports industry will also play a role in contributing to the state, national and regional development,” he added.

SISS 2019 will be held on 27 August at the Grand Ballroom, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Sunway City, Subang Jaya.

The summit will also feature ‘Awards for Asia 2018’ which is a recognition award to top athletes from the Asian continent and a nomination process involving 30 countries as determined by the Association of Asian Sports Writers.

The four categories of awards are the Asian Men’s Athlete Award, the Asian Women’s Athlete Award, the Asia Men’s Team Athlete Award and the Asian Women’s Team Athlete Award.
