SHAH ALAM – Five locations in Selangor, Banting, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Selangor and Klang are at high risk of poor air quality due to rising Air Pollution Index (API) reading since 16 September.
Previously only Johan Setia in Klang showed that air quality had deteriorated. However, the severe haze that hit the west coast of the peninsula has affected these five areas.
According to the IPU reported at 5 pm on 16 September, the reading of the API in Shah Alam increased to 176 compared with 85 at 6 pm on 15 September.
Meanwhile, in Klang during the same period the API readings from 87 rose to 169, Petaling Jaya 91 to 160, Banting from 129 to 160 and Kuala Selangor 77 to 124.
For Johan Setia, Klang’s API reading continued to show very poor air quality of 221.
