SHAH ALAM, Oct 27 — Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari says the people of Selangor has enjoyed the benefits from the efforts and initiatives under the ruling administration, which had included boosting the sectors of education, entrepreneurship, health and the social status of the public.

In his Deepavali celebration address, Amirudin said the long-term policies outlined by Pakatan Harapan was formed to safeguard the welfare of the people as well as the fiscal sustainability of the state, in which he said the success was only seen over a period of time.

“When the welfare of the people is well taken care of, then there will be peace and unity that would bring prosperity to all. This is how it has been in Selangor since 2008.

“In the state Budget 2020 that will be tabled this coming Friday on November 1, I will make several announcements on new initiatives for the people, including for the Indian community,” he said in a statement today.

Amirudin said the sacrifices made by the Indian community in 2007 had given a fresh breath to the people’s struggle.

He said the joint efforts among all the different ethnic groups in the state over the course of 11 years has opened up a new chapter in Malaysian politics.

“We have to cherish this historical event to remind ourselves of the struggle of the Malaysians as a whole in upholding the welfare of the people in any given situation.

“With this, I would like to wish a Happy Deepavali to the people of Selangor, especially those of Hindu and Sikh, and I hope that this festivity would strengthen the bond between family and friends,” he said.
