MB: Full support for current and future PM, all should focus on change

By Nazli Ibrahim

KLANG, Oct 25 — The Selangor state government will give its continuous support towards Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as well as his future successor, says Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

He said all parties should focus on the reform agenda that has been outlined as the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government needs stability.

“At present, I give my full support towards the prime minister under PH as well as the future premier.

“My task as the Menteri Besar is to show full support towards the plans that have been formulated by the prime minister.

“Whether it [his premiership] would be a full term or half term, we let the Federal administration to decide what is best,” he said to reporters after attending the Deepavali dinner celebrations organised by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) in Jalan Tengku Kelana, here yesterday.

Meanwhile, in response to the recent open criticism towards one of his state assemblyman, Amirudin said the criticism does not affect the cooperation between component parties within the ruling party.

“The different views on the matter should not be seen as the PH spirit as a whole. We are still strong, there is a lot of work for us to do.

“Perhaps there are views that may reflect poorly on the spirit of the party, but I hope to see that the matter would be discussed rather than said in press statements,” he said.
