SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — The Belanjawan Selangor 2020 (Selangor Budget 2020), that will be tabled on Friday, would pave the way towards the ruling government’s Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 (SPV2030) policy as well as setting the future direction of the state.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the much-anticipated state budget would also be a starting point for the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), which would mark the end of Vision 2020 or Wawasan 2020.

“I believe this budget will be a half-term or partial assessment of Selangor in becoming a smart state by 2025.

“Next year will be (2020), therefore we have about another five years to go. This is an important point that would involve many different aspects that needs focus, especially in achieving and kick-starting something new,” he told reporters after the launch of the Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) at the Shah Alam Convention Centre, here yesterday.

Also present were chief executive officer of Menteri Besar Inc (MBI) and Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd (LLSB) chairman Raja Shahreen Raja Othman as well as LLSB managing director Syaiful Azmen Nordin.

When asked whether the state budget would be able to fulfil the needs of the people, Amirudin said he would look into what has been voiced by the public as the state population has reached 6.4 million.

“No less than 12 townhall sessions were held before we worked on the budget to ensure that we look into every aspect and areas.

“As a state government, we have a mission and vision, which is why the policies we have is important in support of the 2020 budget,” he said.
