Moving towards Smart State by 2025, Selangor to be exemplary govt — Amirudin

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — The Selangor government aspires to become an exemplary government and would be envied by many others, as it works its way towards becoming an inclusive Smart State by 2025, says its Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari today.

He said the diverse backgrounds and outward differences of the people of Selangor could find common ground and build a better tomorrow.

“I can tell you in confidence that Selangor is ahead of the game when it comes to Smart Cities.

“That has been the foundation of our governance since 2016, to make Selangor Southeast Asia’s first Smart State by 2025.

“By then, we envision Selangor to be a dynamic, economically vibrant, culturally rich, people-centred Smart State constantly engaging Selangorians to be an exemplary government and the envy of many,” Amirudin said at the launch of the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention at the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2019 here today.

He said Selangor is on the way to streamline all efforts to develop smart cities using the Selangor model through the Malaysia Smart City Framework.

He said the advent of 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and E-Wallets would not only create new job opportunities but would also revolutionise several key aspects in expanding technological industries, such as facial recognition, financial management and security.

“To achieve all this, we need today’s big thinkers to think big.

“I also imagine young people in this room envisioning the different process to apply AI to healthcare to eliminate waiting lists for lifesaving medicines and organs. The possibilities are endless. And the future is bright

“My challenge to you is this — we have got a blank canvas to design our future. It’s up to you to determine what that future will be,” he said.
