Tourism Selangor initiates school visits to boost state tourism

KLANG Oct 31 — In boosting the Selangor tourism industry among school children, Tourism Selangor has taken the initiative to visit schools through the ‘Jelajah Squad Kembara Sekolah’ programme.

Its Promotion and Industrial Development Department manager Khuzaimah Jamaluddin said the programme was introduced to expose school students as well as teachers on the various tourism products available in Selangor.

“There are still school pupils who are not aware of the tourism products available in the state.

“This programme is in collaboration with the Selangor education department as well as several other tourism products such as Sunway Lagoon, Kidzania, Skytrek, Morib Goldcoast
and Jumpstreet,” she said when met at the Tourism Selangor’s ‘Jelajah Squad Kembara Sekolah’ programme at SMK (P) Methodist Klang here today.

Khuzaimah said the fourth edition of the tour saw several activities as well as a comprehensive information briefing on the choices of tourism products for the school students and teachers.

She said the special dance performance by the MahMeri Orang Asli community was presented to reflect the cultural performance as part of the state’s tourism industry.

“The tour programme is fully supported by the state government and it will be expanded to other schools in Selangor,” she said.
