Ampang Jaya crime index down 9 per cent compared to 2018

SHAH ALAM, Nov 21 — The crime rate index in Ampang Jaya has dropped from January to October this year compared to the same period in 2018, which has contributed to the excellent performance of the Ampang Jaya district police station (IPD), Sinar Harian reported today.

Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Noor Azmi Yusoff said the crime index had shown a decrease of 8.82 per cent, involving 179 cases.

He said the total number of cases over the 10-month period in 2019 was 1,851 as compared to 2,030 cases last year.

“For property crime, 1,549 cases were recorded this year compared to last year’s 1,409 cases,” he was quoted by Sinar Harian when met at the Ampang Jaya IPD monthly assembly.

Noor Azmi added that fake news shared on social media, especially on issues involving the police, has given a negative impact on society.

“Firm action will be taken to safeguard national security and the wellbeing of the people as well the image of the police force,” Noor Azmi was quoted by the Malay daily.
