Entrepreneur minister views ‘super drone’ in Subang

SHAH ALAM, Nov 21 — The Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof has today inspected the Super Drone or UAS E-Hang 216 (EH216) manned aerial vehicle at a private viewing session held in Subang, today.

In a statement issued, the private viewing was organised by a local entrepreneur Eastcap Berhad in collaboration with a foreign company specialising in drones.

The private company was said to have also planned to invest in establishing an installation facility to produce 10,000 manned aerial vehicles a year, which would create 2,000 job opportunities in the local export market.

“The ministry supports and facilitates several drone projects and air mobility that are introduced by local and foreign companies.

“These projects would encourage R&D (research and development) in the aerospace and air mobility industry through joint ventures between local and international companies in the areas of installation and production of parts and components, which would use the latest technology such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI) dan Internet of Things (IoT).

“This is a private driven initiative that would not involve any financial implication on the Federal government,” the statement read.

In supporting and facilitating the growth and development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Redzuan said that the expansion of potential sectors in high growth industry is in line with the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030 (NEP 2030) under the Strategic Core 5.

This includes aerospace, automotive, rail, renewable energy, medical instruments, biotechnology and halal industries.

“The ministry will continue to work closely with local and foreign industry players to achieve the objectives targetted in the NEP 2030.

“However, those who want to venture into the industry must be aware of and understand the existing rules and regulations as well as providing full cooperation with the authorities on the enforcement and monitoring of any related activities,” he was quoted in the statement.

The ministry has also urged more local innovative companies to choose Cyberjaya as a text-bed platform to test new technologies and innovations, including autonomous drones, drones and air mobility.

The ministry is also in discussion with the Transport Ministry and the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) on the need to create a conducive and holistic legal framework that would support the development of the industry while empowering the existing ecosystem.
