BATU CAVES, Nov 25 — Selangor has achieved as the first state to represent Malaysia in pushing forward the smart state agenda on a global platform at the Smart City Expo World Congress, held in Barcelona, Spain, last week.
Its Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the Selangor government policy on smart state, that was initiated in 2015, had proven that the agenda was on its right track.
“At the global congress that had involved 146 countries, Selangor was ranked to be in the same position as Jakarta and Bandung in the Asean region.
“With this, I am confident that we are on the right track in developing Selangor into a smart state by 2025,” said Amirudin at the Sungai Tua Deepavali open house at Dewan Seri Siantan, here last night.
Also present at the event were Taman Templer assemblyman Mohd Sany Hamzam, PKR vice-president Tian Chua and Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) president Shamsul Shahril Badliza Mohd Noor.
The Deepavali open house was attended by 1,000 visitors.
Last week, Amirudin had led the Selangor delegation, along with representatives from Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad Waste Management (KDEBWM), Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU), and Smartsel Sdn Bhd, at the global smart city congress in Spain.
Selangor had at the event signed three joint undertakings with foreign companies from the United Kingdom, Turkey and the US.
The congress, held from November 19 to 21, saw over 20,000 participants and 1,010 exhibitors.
