KLANG, Dec 11 — Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari was conferred the ‘Datuk Seri’ title in conjunction with the 74th birthday of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today.
Amirudin headed a list of 91 awards, honours and medals recipients in Selangor, and was awarded the First Class Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS) award.
Clad in a sky blue baju Melayu, Amirudin was accompanied by his wife Masdiana Muhamad.
The ceremony was held at the Istana Shah Alam here.
Amirudin, 39, was appointed the Menteri Besar post in last June and was a state government executive councillor since 2014 for Youth Development and Sports portfolio.
He was also elected as the manager of the Selangor FA football team in 2015 and was the Selangor State Sports Council deputy chairman from 2008 to 2010.
The Selangor PKR chief was the sole recipient of the award this year, suited with his position as the state leader.
This year, the state government received 2,268 applications whereby 958 were nominated for awards and titles.
Out of the 958 nominees, only 19 individuals were selected to receive the Selangor awards and titles.
