KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 — The Selangor Modest Fashion Gala 2019 debuts with the highlight on the Royal Collection, which has showcased designs inspired by the Selangor’s traditional fashion infused with a modern and modest touch.
Themed ‘Redefining Modesty’, the prestigious event held at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur here last night, was graced by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the wife of Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan, Cik Puan Sofie Louise Johansson
Also present at the event was the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
The event was also attended by Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris, and Selangor Menteri Besar’s wife Masdiana Muhamad.
The highly anticipated Selangor Modest Fashion Gala had opened with the highlight on nine aspiring designers, each showcasing three ready-to-wear (RTW) outfits and one look for the Royal Collection.
The aspiring designers had recently undergone a four-month competition for the Selangor Modest Fashion Aspiring Award, in which the winner was announced last night, under the mentorship and supervision of industry experts such as fashion curator Faizal Hamid, fashion stylist Zaihani Mohd Zain and KL Fashion Week founder Andrew Tan.
The winner of the award goes to designers Hazzerwan Lee and Mariam Musa of the fashion label Wan & Mary.
The show had also featured 12 established designers, such as Melinda Looi, Datuk Tom Abang Saufi, Datuk Radzuan Radziwill, FIZIWOO, and Rizman Ruzaini, each showcasing their designs for the Royal Collection.
The Royal Collection had featured designs for both men and women, inspired by the nine-petal ‘Bunga Tanjung’ official flower of Selangor. The floral design is also one of the key elements in the architectural designs of the Selangor royal palace.
Selangor Modest Fashion, through the Fashion Gala, had aimed to engage with local and international royalty, socialites, corporate figures, celebrities, lifestyle influencers, and industry players to further promote the growth of the modest fashion industry in Selangor.
