KPKT approves RM5mil allocation for MPS maintenance projects

Selayang Municipal Council

RAWANG, Feb 6 — The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has approved a RM5 million allocation for 18 housing maintenance projects under the jurisdiction of the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS).

Selayang MP William Leong said an application by the Joint Management Agency (JMB) to the KPKT last year was approved under the Housing Maintenance Fund (TPPM), reported Sinar Harian.

“A total of nine projects were approved under the Selayang constituency, while the rest were in Gombak, Damansara and Sungai Buloh areas.

“The MPS will make an assessment before the tendering process in April. The maintenance work is expected to kick start in stages this May,” William said during a working visit at Taman Pelangi Apartment here yesterday.

Also present was Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat.

In a related matter, Chua said a total of four housing maintenance projects in Rawang had been approved, which involves an allocation of almost RM2 million.

“The apartments involved are Las Palmas Bandar Country Homes, Taman Tun Teja, Desa Sri Bayu and Taman Pelangi.

“Most of the projects include roof repairs, upgrading works to elevators, pipes, stairs, electrical wiring, water tanks and many more,” he said.

Meanwhile, Taman Pelangi apartment JBM chairman Zulkefli Che Lah expressed gratitude following the completion of the roof maintenance work of the building, which has been pending for the last six years.

“Roofing issues and leaks often occur during heavy rains and strong winds, but for the most part, we are not able to afford them because of the high cost.

“We were happy to hear about the approved maintenance work because it involves 200 apartment units,” he said.
