SHAH ALAM, Feb 27 — More than 8,000 participants had taken part in the two-day Selangor Marathon 2020 series held at the Sepang International Circuit, says Tourism Selangor.
Its general manager Azrul Shah Mohamad said both local and foreign runners had participated in the event on February 22 and 23, which was said to be an official state government event and endorsed by Tourism Selangor.
“The event was to promote the Visit Sepang Year 2020 campaign, as well as part of the state government’s initiative in encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
“This was also part of the efforts in meeting the eight million tourist arrivals target for the Selangor Visit 2021 campaign,” he said in a statement today.
The Selangor Maraton 2020 was held in four categories — ‘Fun Run’ 3 km and 5 km, 21 km and 42 km. The ‘Fun Run’ category had also featured a slot for children for the 2 km distance.
Also present at the running event was Sungai Pelek assemblyman Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew dan and Dengkil assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah.
