PJ Stadium as Red Giant’s alternative venue to Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM, Feb 17 — The Petaling Jaya Stadium in Kelana Jaya would be the alternative venue for the Red Giants in the upcoming M-League season, which kicks-off on February 28, the New Straits Times (NST) reported yesterday.

The Shah Alam Stadium recently did not pass the first inspection by the Malaysia Football League (MFL) as the pitch and dressing rooms did not meet the requirements set. A second inspection is scheduled on Friday.

FA of Selangor (FAS) secretary Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon told NST that he is confident the Shah Alam Stadium will meet the requirements when the second inspection is carried out.

“I am confident the Red Giants will retain the Shah Alam Stadium as their home ground. Based on recent developments, chances of playing there are bright, but some sections of the venue will be off-limits for refurbishing,” he was quoted by the English daily.

On February 10, the Darul Ehsan Facilities Management (DEFM) said it would inspect the roof damage of the Shah Alam stadium, as the initial inspection conducted by the MFL did not touch on the damage to the roof.

MFL was reported to have said that all venues were required to get the league operator’s approval at least a week prior to the start of the season.

The Shah Alam Stadium has been the home venue for the Red Giants since 1994.

Selangor will be hosting their first Super League match this year on March 7 against Perak.
