SHAH ALAM, Feb 27 — In light of the recent political developments, Selangor police are prepared to retain the peace and order in the country.

Its police chief Comm Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin had urged the public to remain calm and refrain from getting involved in situations that could create public anxiety, Sinar Harian reported yesterday.

“The police are always prepared to maintain order. The situation is under control at the moment and the country remains peaceful.

“Let the democratic process run its course. The people should remain calm,” Noor Azam was quoted to have said at a press conference after launching the first Selangor police contingent Neighbourhood Watch programme in Bangi, yesterday.

Also present was state deputy police chief DCP Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed.

Meanwhile, Noor Azam stressed that the police are always on alert and on standby even though the situation is under control.

“We hope the people would continue to cooperate with the police,” he added.
