RON97 up by 2 sen, diesel drops one sen

SHAH ALAM, Feb 28 — The fuel prices of RON97 will go up by two sen while RON95 remain at a capped rate from February 29 until March 6.

The price of diesel will go down one sen during the period.

The Finance Ministry said in a statement today that the price of RON97 will increase from RM2.38 per litre to RM2.40 per litre while the price of RON95 will stay at RM2.08 per litre.

The price of diesel will decrease from RM2.14 per litre to RM2.13 per litre.

The statement added that the estimated subsidy to be borne by the government between February 29 and March 6 would be RM6.12 million.

The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on January 5 last year under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).

Under this system, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for one week.
