Selangor Socso aims 64,000 self-employed contributors

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Feb 17 — The Selangor Social Security Organization (Socso) targets 64,000 self-employed individuals in the state to contribute to the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SESSS), its deputy director said.

Mohammad Ramli Ahmad Dahalan said the individuals would receive the benefits in the form of medical protection, temporary and permanent disability, constant-attendance allowance, dependents, funeral expenses, and physical and vocational rehabilitation as well as education.

“We have received a lot of contributors from sole proprietorship companies. More meetings will be held with e-commerce companies, including traders associations, to attract more contributors.

“We are also working at the state legislative assembly level in order to receive feedback, encouragement and stimulation from the elected representatives,” he told SelangorKini when contacted today.

Since January 1 this year, Socso has expanded its SESSS to 19 informal sectors including agriculture, livestock breeding, forestry, fisheries, manufacturing, construction, online business and data processing.

Those who are self-employed can register and make contributions online at http://matrix.perkeso.gov.my or visit any of the Socso branches for further information.

The public is also invited to attend a tour on the social security scheme, which will take place in Kuala Selangor on March 15, in conjunction with the Selangor Career Day.

Under this scheme, contributors may choose to make monthly payments of as low as RM13.10 to RM49.40, or RM157.20 to RM592.80 per year, with an optional monthly income insured at RM1,050, RM1,550, RM2,950 and RM3,950.
