Short-term rates to remain stable on BNM’s operations

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 — Short-term rates are expected to remain stable today on Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) operations to absorb surplus liquidity from the financial system.

Today’s liquidity is estimated at RM22.14 billion in the conventional system and RM12.49 billion in Islamic funds.

The central bank will conduct two conventional money market tender worth RM500 million for seven days, RM 500 million for 14 days.

It will also conduct one Islamic range maturity auction (iRMA) Qard tender worth RM1.0 billion for seven to 29 days.

At 4 pm, the BNM will conduct up to RM21.1 billion for conventional overnight tender and RM11.5 billion for Murabahah overnight tender.
