Covid-19: 130 new cases reported, total number exceeds 1,000

SUBANG JAYA, March 20 — A total of 130 new Covid-19 cases were reported as at noon today, bringing the cumulative cases in the country to 1,030, Health director-general Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today.

He said out of the total new cases, 48 were linked to the tabligh religious gathering.

In Selangor, the total number of cases is 263, while there are 139 cases in Kuala Lumpur.

A total of 12 patients have recovered and were discharged today, bringing the total of patients discharged to 87.

“To date, a total of 26 cases are in the intensive care unit (ICU) and requiring ventilator support.

“Following the enforcement of the movement control order effective March 18 until 31, all outdoor activities are suspended in order to contain the Covid-19 outbreak,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham had reiterated that everyone should remain at home and had advised the people to be physically active by exercising indoors.

He said this includes using home workout equipment, doing bodyweight exercises, such as push-ups, squats, planks, burpees dan lounges, or gentle physical exercise and stretching such as yoga and tai chi.

“Malaysian can remain physically active by dancing at home as well as take the opportunity to do spring cleaning.

“Studies have shown that staying physically active can elevate the mood and ease the mind from worries. It helps to sharpen the mind, improve muscle and aerobic strength,” the statement read.
