Free accommodation for frontliners, says MB

SHAH ALAM, March 29 — The Selangor government, with the cooperation of Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), will be providing free accommodation to those working in the frontline.

In a statement today, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari said accommodation for police and army officers will be provided at the De Palma Hotels, which is also extended to other groups in the frontline based on the current needs.

“A total of 204 rooms has been prepared at the De Palma Hotel in Ampang, while another 83 rooms are ready at its Shah Alam branch,” he said in the statement today.

Amirudin said through early discussions with Selgate Corporation, a subsidiary of PKNS, and the Selangor State Health Department, private hospitals in the state has agreed to accept cases that are not related to Covid-19 from government hospitals.

“These private hospitals are also prepared to provide several ventilators to be used at the government hospitals,” the statement read.

Amirudin said the two initiatives announced were decided following a meet with the state government finance officers and the Selangor economic planning unit earlier today, on the second phase of the Selangor Care Package 2.0 (Selangor Prihatin 2.0).

The state’s second stimulus package is part of the Selangor government’s efforts to reach out to all of those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Amirudin added that further announcements will be made in the second phase of the movement control order, which will begin from April 1 to April 14.

“I hope to see the synergy between the Federal government, the state administration, GLCs and private sectors would produce the best results for the people,” he said.
