MB: Selangor stable, PKR has large majority

By Khairul Azran Hussin and Afix Redzuan

SHAH ALAM, March 2 — The solidarity among PKR leaders and members have made the Selangor government even stronger, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar, who is also the Selangor PKR chairman, said he is also grateful that the state remains stable despite the ongoing political unrest at the federal level.

“Despite various obstacles, Selangor remains relatively stable compared to other states where the political situation remain uncertain.

“In Selangor, we still have a strong majority and PKR is still the party that has the most state assembly seats,” he said when met at a special prayer or ‘solat hajat’ at his official residence, here yesterday.

Meanwhile, in a separate event earlier yesterday, Amirudin stressed that he remains as a PKR member and is determined to ensure Pakatan Harapan (PH) remains in Selangor.

He said although he has been linked with several leaders who had recently left the party, Amirudin said he would continue to fight and defend the coalition.

“There are boundaries… family ties and friendships would continue but in politics, we need to have discipline and responsibility based on these boundaries.

“If I were to act individually, I would have either sabotage the state government or I could I just let it be. So the responsibility aspect must be clear,” said Amirudin after attending the 2020 Selangor Book Fair at Shah Alam Convention Centre, here.

Meanwhile, when asked on the position of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in the state government, Amirudin said the matter would be discussed later.

“I have also informed the matter to the state Selangor Bersatu chairman, Datuk Rashid Asari.

“We will then review Bersatu’s position (in the state). It is nearly impossible for the Federal government to be from a different party and the state government of another alliance. It can happen, but it would be awkward,” he said.

In response to Abdul Rashid’s position as the state executive committee chairmen (exco), Amirudin said he will discuss the matter and nominate a suitable candidate when the time comes.
