SHAH ALAM, March 9 — The Selangor Menteri Besar says he will meet with the state health director, Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman, to discuss on the rising number of coronavirus cases in the country before cancelling all large-scale state public events.
Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the meet will be held today to discuss on the latest update on the Covid-19 situation.
“If there is a need for an announcement to be made, I will do so either this evening or tomorrow morning,” he said after the state administration monthly assembly at Dewan Jubli Perak, Selangor secretariat building (SUK), here today.
As of yesterday, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in the country had increased to 99, with 18 cases were detected among patients under investigation (PUI), 79 cases involving close contacts and two others were cases from the Humanitarian Aid Mission.
On March 7, the Selangor government had advised all large-scale public events to be postponed following the second wave of COvid-19 infection in the country.
The Malaysia Women Marathon 2020 in Petaling Jaya, that was to be held on March 8 in conjunction with the International Women’s Day, was called off.
