PLUS closes all reload lanes at toll plazas

KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has ceased all reload facilities at Customer Services Centres and reload lanes at its highway toll plazas in a bid to stem the spread of Covid-19.

PLUS said in a statement yesterday that the temporary closure, from March 18-31, was part of its strategy on social distancing and to reduce the risk of infection among toll plaza staff and highway users.

“As such, motorists can reload their Touch ‘n Go cards at reload facilities such as self-service kiosks located at 67 selected rest and services (R&R) areas, automated teller machines (ATMs), selected petrol stations, convenience stores as well as other sites outside the highway ecosystem,” it said.

It also stated that only packed (take-away) food and drinks will be sold at all PLUS R&Rs.

Meanwhile, authorities completed the disinfection, sanitisation and cleaning processes at the Tol Ebor Plaza (entrance) at about 1.30pm yesterday after a customer service staff at the toll plaza tested positive for the virus yesterday.

The toll plaza will only be reopened at midnight today and, until then, motorists from around Shah Alam, Batu Tiga and surrounding areas entering the ELITE highway heading towards KLIA, Putrajaya and the south are advised to do so via the Shah Alam or Seafield toll plazas.
