Selangor to decide on SIBS 2020 in June

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, March 31 — The state government will decide on the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2020 this coming June, said Datuk Teng Chang Kim.

The State Executive Council Member and Investment, Industry and Commerce and SMEs Committee chairman said the Selangor administration has to evaluate several factors before making a decision, including the suspension of other international events, as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak.

“For example, the Malaysian International Halal Exhibition (Mihas) 2020, which was scheduled to be held from April 1 to 4, has been postponed to September 1 to 4.

“So we need to look at many aspects on whether SIBS should be postponed to October, a month after Mihas, aside from considering the promotional aspects,” he told SelangorKini when contacted today.

Selangor was set to host to the SIBS from October 14 to 17 this year at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The international summit will include four main components namely the Selangor International Expo (SIE), the Selangor-Asean Business Conference, the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention and the second Selangor Research and Development and Innovation Expo.
