SHAH ALAM, March 16 — The Selangor 2020 budget is expected to face a deficit, amounting RM1.33 million, says Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

He said the decreased deficit amount was because of a substantive development allocation to meet the needs of sustainable development in the state.

“The deficit amount will see a drop, as opposed to 2019’s deficit of RM360 million. The completion of Smart Selangor initiatives are among the priorities being focused by the state administration,” he said in his royal address during the opening of the first meeting of the third term of the 14th Selangor Legislative Assembly sitting, here today.

He said the state government would be able to strike a balance between its efforts towards becoming a smart state and achieving sustainable social development.

The Selangor legislative assembly had approved the 2020 budget of RM2.3 billion for the state.

The 2020 state budget focuses on five main trusts revolving around improving the state’s economy, education, safety and health, environment and social aspects.
