Selangor Zakat provides special RM15mil allocation for those affected by MCO

SHAH ALAM, March 21 — The Selangor Tithes Board (LZS) has provided a special allocation of RM15 million as immediate aid to meet the daily and medical needs of people affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) imposed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

LZS chief executive officer Saipolyazan M. Yusof said the fund is to help hawkers, petty traders and those with low income whose livelihood has been affected by the order.

“Those who are affected can apply for the aid from March 25 by contacting the Zakat Selangor hotline number 1 300 88 4343 (Monday to Friday from 10.00 am until 3 pm),” he said in a statement here today.

The special allocation, he said, will also be given to hospitals which are handling Covid-19 cases.

In addition, Saipolyazan said, the LZS will also expedite the monthly financial aid to the poor on March 23 instead of March 25.

He added that the special allocation will also include food aid to tertiary students who need it.
