Three ministries agree to use AI, BDA to battle Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 — The Health Ministry (KKM), the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM), and the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry have agreed to use artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics (BDA) to control the spread of Covid-19 infection.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the agreement was reached at a strategic collaboration meeting involving the three ministries in the fight against the Covid-19 held at KKM headquarters in Putrajaya yesterday.

“The meeting discussed matters relating to the use of AI and BDA on smart tracking as well as the need to share data and cooperation between MOST and the Higher Education Ministryc for a centre for diagnostic screening, epidemiological studies and a study on the efficacy of malaria drug,” he said in his official Twitter site @DrAdhamBaba yesterday.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Adham, KKMM Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and MOSTI Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Also present were the deputy ministers and senior officers from the three ministries, agency representatives, academicians as well members of the private sector.
