SHAH ALAM, April 5 — The Selangor Menteri Besar has urged for the people to prepare for the “new normal” as there won’t be an immediate return to the old ways after the movement control order (MCO) is lifted.
Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had expressed his confidence that the people would be able to successfully get through the Covid-19 episode if the nation as a whole accepts the new reality that is to come.
“Regardless of race or religion, from Kangar to Tanjung Piai, from Pangkalan Kubor Tumpat to Kapit, from Baram to Kundasang, if we work hard, are disciplined, and are prepared to accept several new habits or the ‘new normal’ as the part of the norm, we will be able to get through this.
“The new normal has pushed the country and its people to give serious attention to the challenges in the environmental changes, food security, and other policies,” Amirudin said on Instagram today.
He said the administration should also begin looking into formulating policies that would be able to address such issues.
In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the state government had announced an additional allocation of RM272.5 million in the Selangor Cares Package 2.0, which brings a total RM400 million to fund the economic impact that has struck the nation.
On March 20, the state administration revealed RM127.78 million of funds for the first phase of the stimulus package, which had included seven initiatives for several target groups.
