Businesses in operation since phase one need not make fresh applications

PUTRAJAYA, April 16 — All approved economic sectors operating during the Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the movement control order (MCO) do not need to make new applications when the MCO entered the third phase.

Senior Minister (Economic Cluster) Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the matter was gazetted by the government on March 18, March 21, and April 2.

“This means that all industries and companies that have been approved to operate in phase 1 and phase 2 of the MCO can continue their operations into phase 3 as they have been gazetted by the government on the dates I mentioned earlier,” he told a press conference at here today.

As for the additional economic sectors which were allowed to operate in stages, Mohamed Azmin, who is also Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), said they had just been gazetted yesterday and MITI was now receiving applications from the sectors concerned.

He said the view of the Ministry of Health (MOH) was also taken into account in allowing the additional economic sectors to operate.

“This process must be through the MOH which is a very important ministry to provide guidance and advice to MITI and other ministries involved in the additional sectors, in our effort to curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
