Covid-19: 47 news cases in Singapore, total now 926

SINGAPORE, April 1 — Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified an additional 47 cases of Covid-19 infection in the republic, bringing the tally to 926.

Of the 47 positive cases, 16 are imported cases with one involving a 33-year-old Malaysian man who is a Singapore Work Pass holder.

“He is currently warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases,” said MOH in a statement here yesterday.

MOH noted that the 16 imported cases had travel history to Australia, Europe, Asean and other parts of Asia.

The other 31 are local cases who have no recent travel history abroad, it said.

According to MOH, another case was also recorded from the public healthcare sector involving a 22-year-old male Indian national who is a Long Term Pass holder with no recent travel history.

A housekeeper at Changi General Hospital (CGH), he is currently warded in an isolation room at the same hospital.

Updating on the condition of confirmed cases, MOH said 12 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals, raising the number to 240.

Of the 423 confirmed cases who are still in hospital, most are stable or improving while 22 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit, it said.

As at noon, MOH has identified 13,452 close contacts who have been quarantined.
