Covid-19 cases rise by 74 in Selangor, total tally now 800

SHAH ALAM, April 2 — Selangor saw a spike in new Covid-19 cases with a total of 74, in comparison to the 22 daily cases recorded yesterday.

The total tally in the state is now at 800 out of the total 3,116 cases recorded nationwide.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had urged all parties to work harder in playing their role to ensure the spread of the coronavirus is contained.

“We have to be more proactive in combatting this outbreak.

“Stay at home and obey by the directives given by the authorities. Together we pray for Malaysia,” he said on his official Twitter account.

The death toll in Selangor stood at seven as there were no new fatalities reported today.

Selangor has the highest recorded number of cases in the country, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 488 cases, Johor (395), Sarawak (211), Sabah (210), and Negri Sembilan (207).

As of noon today, there were 208 new positive Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia, with five deaths, which brings the total fatalities to 50.

The country saw its highest daily recovery from Covid-19 with 122 cases, bringing the total of recovered and discharged patients to 767, or 24.6 per cent out of the total number of cases.
