Free mail delivery service for follow-up medication

By Ashwin Kumar

SHAH ALAM, April 14 — The Selangor Health Department (JKNS) will facilitate the free medicine delivery service in the state to those who require follow-up medications without having to visit a hospital or clinic.

The state government agency said the Health Ministry (MOH) will bear all delivery costs for its Medicines By Post (UMP) service from April 5 until June 30.

“The patients can contact the pharmacy at the respective healthcare centres to register themselves,” JKNS said in a statement on Facebook yesterday, adding that the service is only open to patients under treatment at the MOH facilities.

The service is also only available for medication that comes in the form of a tablet or capsule, non-psychotropic drugs, and the ones that do not require special storage.

On April 7, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said patients with chronic conditions are encouraged to the value-added services (VAS) offered to continue receiving medication during the ongoing movement control order (MCO).

He said this includes mail delivery of medication, pharmacy drive0thru, Locker4U medical lockers or call/SMS-and-grab methods.
