SHAH ALAM, April 30 — Petaling is now a yellow zone as the number of active Covid-19 cases in the district has declined to 37 yesterday from 46 cases on Tuesday.

Based on the statistics produced by the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre of the Selangor State Health Department, Hulu Langat is the remaining district in the state classified as a red zone with 66 active cases registered, compared to 72 cases the day before.

The Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 also noted that Sabak Bernam is also improving as three out of five of its townships are now a green zone.

“Congratulations to the Pancang Bedena township as it is now a green zone. Majority of the townships under Sabak Bernam are green zones, this is a well-improved development!

“Hulu Langat also registered a significant drop in active cases and is close to being classified as a yellow zone. It’s the only district left as a red zone and most of Selangor is improving and will soon come out from the red zone,” the task force said on a Facebook post last night.

Meanwhile, Subang Jaya MP Michele Ng Mei Sze had reminded the people to continue on the efforts to ensure the chain of infection is broken.

“Petaling district, which Subang Jaya is a part of, is now a yellow zone.

“Now’s not the time to rest on our laurels. We need to buckle down and work towards turning green,” she said on Twitter last night.

Yesterday, Selangor recorded one daily case out of a total of 94 patients nationwide. The sudden surge in new Covid-19 cases had involved 72 imported cases, whereas the remaining 22 were locally transmitted cases.

Out of the total 1,404 cases in Selangor, 145 are active Covid-19 cases.

The death toll in Selangor stood at 18.
