PKNS launches its Raya online platform to help entrepreneurs during MCO

By Ashwin Kumar

SHAH ALAM, April 27 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has initiated a virtual Raya marketplace, the ‘Raya Bersama PKNS’ programme, which puts together small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro traders on a single web page and advertised on the e-commerce platform Shopee.

PKNS in a statement today said the initiative, in collaboration with Shopee and Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (Sitec), will help 51 entrepreneurs under PKNS BizClub to market their products online and generate income as they have been affected by the movement control order (MCO).

“Running for the second consecutive year, the programme had begun on April 15 and will end on May 15.

“Through this initiative, the entrepreneurs are placed under one landing page (web page) and advertised on Shopee. Customers also get a chance to receive (Shopee) cashback coins up to 20 per cent when they purchase from the PKNS small businesses,” the statement read.

According to PKNS chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain, among the products offered include clothing, Raya delicacies, as well as beauty accessories for the upcoming Raya festive season.

“We are proud to continue with this strategic cooperation with one of the biggest online shopping platform in the region (Shopee) and to get the much-needed support from Sitec in our quest to boost the digital economy in Selangor,” he said.

Mohd Azizi said the programme would serve as the perfect medium for PKNS entrepreneurs to overcome business challenges as the country face the Covid-19 outbreak.

“Our campaign with Shopee in the previous year was very encouraging. There were entrepreneurs who up to RM20,000 of sales within a month. We are very excited and hope that more businesses will see such sales record.

“Our initiative with Shopee will enhance the well-being and income of the people of Selangor,” he added.
