Selangor allocates special financial aid for single moms

SHAH ALAM, April 9 — The Selangor government has granted a special financial aid for single mothers that are affected by the enforced movement control order (MCO).

State Health, Welfare, Women Empowerment and Family Committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud had on Facebook said the application of the special nafkah (maintenance), which is coordinated by the Selangor Syariah Judiciary Department (Jakess), is open from today until April 14.

The terms and conditions for the application are as follow:

  1. Single mother, Muslim Malaysian citizen;
  2. Income of less than RM2,500 or no fixed income due to the MCO;
  3. Risiding in Selangor no less than three years;
  4. Divorced;
  5. Have children below the age of 18, or 21-year-old for those who are student in higher learning institutions;
  6. Have not filed for nafkah and not a recipient of the advanced nafkah payment from the Jakess Family Support Division.
